The Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation (PHF) is participating in #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
For 2017, PHF’s goal for #GivingTuesday is raising $3,000 to bring underserved children and students to Pennsylvania Trails of History sites. These funds will be available to all sites for visits from students who may not otherwise could not afford a visit. Students may have the opportunity to learn about Pennsylvania’s history and the role coal played in its development (The Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum, the Scranton Iron Furnace, and Cornwall Iron Furnace), Pennsylvania’s ties to railroading (Pennsylvania Railroad Museum), the important role agriculture has played (Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum), the battles fought on its soil (Bushy Run Battlefield, Brandywine Battlefield Park, Erie Maritime Museum and U.S. Brig Niagara, and Fort Pitt), and much more!
We ask you today to mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 28, 2017 as the day to help Pennsylvania’s school children learn about their Pennsylvania heritage. Any donation of any amount will make a difference. For questions, please contact the PHF offices at (866) 856-3965 or at RAemail@example.com.
